Doesn’t this sound like 2006 in the best way? Skip to 1:26 to get past the self-indulgent ‘rock band behind the scenes’ stuff.
What’d you get up to this week, friends? I joined a choir a few months ago (part of knowing what makes me happy and adding more of it to my life) and we had our last rehearsal before a set of performances. And on Friday, I crossed Aerial Yoga off my New Things list! This weekend, I’m thrifting and helping Kenny and the boys take on the Sweet 16 Challenge.
Awesome things from my sponsors
Michelle is talking about so many important things. As a no-bio-kids-for-me-thanks stepmom, I loved her podcast about deciding if you want to have kids or not. And her interview with Quirky Alone founder Sasha Cagen is great!
I was on Elise’s podcast this week, talking about blogging with purpose and why I wish someone had told me that I probably wasn’t the exception to the rule.
I finally splashed out on a pair of these and – no lie – I almost audibly groaned with pleasure when I put them on. Worth every penny, especially if you have high arches! Also: investing in good footwear is an investment in your spine, your muscles, and your overall health! Seriously!
Our master bedroom is an attic bedroom, so I loved this sweet roundup of upper-story rooms.
And if you’re a fellow renter/Midwesterner, you might like this tour of two gorgeous Chicago rentals.
Ha! ‘Seinfeld’ episodes from the girlfriend’s perspective.
Marlene is dating a guy named George Costanza because she’s at that point in her life where she’s like, “Maybe instead of dating a series of hot assholes, I will date one man who is kind to me.” As it turns out, while George is not hot, he is an asshole. Then Marlene dates George’s lightly-wracked-with-guilt but primarily horny friend, Jerry, for a while, until she sees Jerry do standup.
I’m spending Monday – Wednesday of next week in South Dakota and I’m going try a few of these things!
It’s officially smoothie season (as we’ve discussed a million times, I SWEAR by this blender. Do not bother with a Vitamix, friends). Make morning smoothies easier with some minimal and clever planning.
I loved this: How to claim freedom from all kinds of bullshit.
Freedom from squeezing in productivity. We don’t have to listen to podcasts or educational audio books while working out, making dinner, driving, or showering. We can engage in one task at a time and even ‘waste’ a bunch of time each day.
Do you think of yourself as self-aware? I like to think I am, but we all have blind spots, don’t we? Apparently only 15% of people are actually self-aware. Here’s how to start to change that.
Yesssss! I love buying beauty products in other countries! The Mysterious Allure of a Foreign Drugstore
There’s always so much good stuff in there — slithery clear lotions, or shampoo bottles with a lot of roses on them, and packaging that just generally hints at priorities different than my own.
Related: the entire archive of my Mornings In series, chronicling the breakfast and beauty routines of women from all over the world.
Somewhat related: Did you know that France’s new president met his wife when he was 15? And she was his 40 year old, married high school drama teacher?
Hope you had a lovely weekend!
