Hi! Like your post and it is so true! You know you have those moments when you want to do something, it's in your head and then some stuff seem to always keep you from doing them! So I've been kinda planning to get a new camera in the continuation of my being a photographer dream; but it was one of those... "I dont really have the money for it" type things. So I kept putting it off and I found my photography was getting pushed to the side a bit. I finally took the big jump 2 days ago and got the new camera and the very next day got a photo shoot! That $100 went straight to the camera and pursuing my dream. WOOHOO!

You know why I blog everyday? 'Cuz I'm paying for it. I had a blogger account and it festered and grew eyes like a neglected potato.

And you know what happened once I stopped paying for my gym membership? I got fat.

Also, my favorite technique for getting something done? Tell everyone I know that I'm gonna do it. Then someone's gonna ask.

This is a great post :) I'm a big believer in this philosophy, too. That's what I did when I decided I was going to write novels full-time - handed in my notice at work, applied and got into a (hideously expensive) MFA course and just plunged right in. Worked for me! :D

Jackie: Too true, right? I've kind of made peace with pursuing one goal, really whole heartedly, at a time. At the moment it's this blog :) But I find that I see more results that way and pursuing one thing is better than pursing none, right?

Yep, I buy something too! And this is totally lame, but I usually buy something pretty that I want to show off. I just started taking yoga. And yes, I could have taken my mom's old plain-pink mat and just worn my running shorts to class, but instead I bought a pretty new tree-print mat and some VS yoga pants. Now, even when I really don't feel like going, I think "but if I don't go today, I'll have to wait a WHOLE EXTRA WEEK to roll out that pretty tree picture!"

Making friends who do the same thing as you helps, too. I look forward to seeing my yoga friends and if I'm not there, they'll ask where I was. Even if it's not a group activity (like, even if you're into painting or playing the piano), having someone else try to have a conversation with you about your shared hobby usually keeps you on track and keeps your enthusiasm up.

I had a teacher who said to put down your top five goals on index cards and to everyday write down one tiny step that you have done to achive the goal. According to the rules of my teacher, if after two weeks you have done nothing then you have to throw away the index card as it is something you must not really want it. I tell you, the having to throw away the card is just to painful and so I often archive the goals I dare to use this process on.

But, you have really good ways on this post. I am sure you will do it. Hey, I just thought of another thing I do to achieve goals, surround myself with people who believe in you. I believe in you!:-)
