Write To Change: February

In January, Clare and I decided that this year, we're going to make our resolutions stick.  How? By making small, monthly goals, by writing them down, and by sharing them.  It's a lot harder to back out when you've told everyone about it!  And some of you guys were brave enough to join us.  Above are pictures from a few write-to-changers who shared their goals on Instagram and Facebook.

How'd you do with your January resolution?  Mine was to call four friends - and I did - though I had to fudge into February a bit.  I quite literally emailed them ahead of time and announced my intentions to call them on the phone (on purpose! not for an emergency!) and would they please pick up the phone when I called?  Oh, 2013.  You've ruined our communication skills.

What's my goal for February?

Left to my own devices I'll exist solely on hummus/cereal/yogurt/fake chicken patties/frozen vegetables.  This month?  None of that. (Or less of that.)

Want to make it significantly more likely that you'll meet these goals?
Create a really, really specific goal.  Not "Go to the gym more" but "Attend four Barre classes."  Not "Eat healthier" but "Eat four meatless meals a week for four weeks."

What's your goal for February?  Share it in comments, on Instagram or my Facebook page!

  2. This is the ONLY way I can get things done--by being *super* specific about the goals I'm setting. Come to think of it, it's about time to write down some pretty specific goals in preparation for a biiiiig life trip :)

    1. Mary,
That was my idea, still working on content, but it's getting there!

    2. Lisa: That has become a pet topic for me since turning 30. I can't wait to see the blog when it's ready! I think we need more grown up ladies blogging about how life as an adult is awesome.

  4. I've realized I don't take many pictures of the awesome things, people and even the ordinary happenings of my current life. I also LOVE reminiscing. February Mission: Take a photo a day!

Thank you for what you do Sarah Von!

  5. This is a great way of managing goals! I do a recap on my blog at the end of each month to track the progress on the ones that I set (either for the month or the year). One of my goals for February is to make progress learning another language so I'm trying to spend at least 30 minutes a day 5 days a week doing lessons. Enjoy the new recipes!

  7. I started a '30 While I'm 30' list back in September. The first edition had very specific goals, "Take yoga class three times per week." or "Perfect ten recipes". I found that because my goals were specific, it forced me to make the initial commitment. Now I've re-written the goals to be more general because they began to feel limiting! I do yoga more than my original goal, and I'm cooking much more often because I have learned to love it. My list changes as I change. ^^

    1. Love this idea! I'll turn 30 in about six months and there are a few things I want to finish before then, but people keep telling me that the 20s are great, but the 30s are even better!

  9. I love this idea!!! Will chime in with my own goal: I want to schedule 3 weekly Skype meetings with one of my besties so we can talk about the small side business we are working on.

Obviously, this goal relies partly on her too, but I think we can make it work.

  11. February is getting back on track with exercise and health eating for us. The other big priorities on my list are restarting my freelance work, getting to know my new community since I just moved a few thousand miles last month, and clearing clutter!
As usual, thanks for the motivation Sarah!
