a) tell everybody about it
b) use it a million times till I’m sick of it or develop an awkwardly intimate relationship with the staff who work there(True story: I used to go to one Salvation Army so often the staff would put things aside for me that they thought I’d like. I also shopped at a specific Asian grocery store so often that when I’d see the cashiers out in public we’d greet each other.)
But when I say “tell everybody about it” I mean “the people I know in real life.” And so many of the places I patronize are slightly dicey-looking small businesses, tucked into out of the way neighborhoods or along streets being torn up to accommodate lightrail construction. So! I thought today’s good deed should be writing positive Yelp reviews for some of my favorite small business.(If you’re curious, my favorite nail salon/eyebrow place is Ocean Spa Salon, my mechanic is Jim at AutoMax on University, my favorite Vietnamese place is Trieu Chao, and my grocery store of choice is Sun Foods.)
Do something nice! Help a small business you love get a leg up on that that Leann Chin down the road. If you took part and wrote about it, send me a link at sarah (at) yesandyes (dot) org and I’ll include you in a future post!
