Real Life Style Icon: Satina of 'Style By Santina'

This is one of many Real Lift Style Icon interviews in which we talk to smart, funny, interesting women who also happen to be double-take stylish.

Name: Santina
Age: 32
Location: San Francisco
Online haunts: Blog // Twitter // Instagram // Facebook

Three reasons that you're awesome:
I have pink hair, I dress for me and only me, and I never take myself – or my style – too seriously.

What are you wearing right now, as you type this?
Vince sweater, Rich + Skinny boyfriend jeans, Steven by Steve Madden loafers and a Marc by Marc Jacobs necklace.

What is the last item of clothing you bought?
A black and white striped peplum top on super sale at J. Crew!

What is the item of clothing you most covet at the moment?
Lately I’ve been focusing on my work wardrobe, adding sophisticated pieces like pencil skirts and silk button downs. This shirt dress by Alexander Wang is edgy but still perfectly office appropriate – I am obsessed with it!

Tell us about a favorite childhood memory about your clothes.
I was a child of the 80’s and absolutely loved anything neon – particularly pink and green. And when the neon trend came back around, I jumped right back on it, sporting a fluorescent orange Cambridge Satchel!

What is your best thrifting score?
I’m not a big thrifter, but for as long as I can remember my mother has loved tag sales and estate sales. Luckily for me, she is always keeping an eye out for something I might like and I was delighted when she handed over a vintage Louis Vuitton bag in almost perfect condition.

Could you tell us your top three style tricks/DIYs?
1. I add a button down to pretty much any outfit. They are a wardrobe staple and I’ve paired them with everything from a sweatshirt to sweater dresses and feminine frocks to menswear inspired looks.

2. A fabulous bag or a hot pair of heels (or better yet – both!) instantly make jeans and a tee look chic and polished.

3. Fashion is fun – have fun with it! Many of my favorite outfits are those that make me giggle when I wear them.

Thanks so much for sharing, Satina!

  1. So adorable and fun! I love this, and I can't wait to check out her blog. I also appreciate that her style is really quirky without falling into the trap of looking like a little girl all the time. It's a good look for an adult woman who is highly creative. :D
