As a kid, I wasn't allowed to eat sugary cereal, white bread, soda, or junk food in general. I loved this essay by a woman who was raised by healthy-eating hippies and encounters Velveeta and potato chips for the first time.
On sleepovers in middle school, I ate potato chips not one at a time but
by the fistful, crumbs decorating my shirt. At my best friend
Jennifer's house, I would sneak out of her room in the middle of the
night and dip into the cookie dough her mother kept in the freezer,
warming ball after ball of it in my bare hands before popping it in my
mouth.
The secret behind the mystery flavor of Dum Dums!

Gala gave advice to a 14 year old New Zealand girl about moving to New York City. But really, her advice is applicable to just about everything, ever.
There is a lot of talk about “living your dream” and some people think it’s balderdash. I believe in living your dreams, of course! But when we think about “living our dreams”, we make the mistake of thinking that everything will be easy, or that there is no effort required in making your dreams come true. That’s not always the case, and it sets us up to fail.
Great advice for anyone young and hungry and trying to 'figure it out.'
Another perfect home tour.

Thank you so much for posting the article about used clothing. I had never really given a second thought to what happens to donated clothes that don't sell and this was quite the eye-opener.
ReplyDeleteA coffee shop made out of shipping containers? How about an entire mall? Check out www.restart.org.nz
