May Network of Nice Hook ups!

photo for sale here

It's that time again.  Giving and getting help.  Isn't that nice?

Here's how we do.
1) Read through these hook up requests.  Can you help them?  Yes?  Email those lovely people.
2) Read through these hook up offers.  Do you need that help?  Yes.  Email those lovely people.
3) If you have been lucky enough to receive help from someone, you write them a prompt and grammatically correct thank you email.  Because your parents raised you right.

I need a hook up!

I need to know about Seattle travel
I'm a 31-year old New Yorker visiting Seattle for the first time and I can't wait!. I will be there from June 8 - June 11. I would love to get in touch with people who can offer advice on what to do, where to eat, and things I shouldn't miss. I enjoy art, music, photography, and anything fun. If you'd like to meet for coffee/drinks, or just show me around, email me! I'd love to show the same hospitality to anyone visiting NYC during the Summer.

I need advice on where to move after college

I'm looking for a city to move to after college. After this month I will be a new graduate, looking to move somewhere for a while, get a job that will pay my bills and allow me to save up, and figure a few things out while applying to grad school (or even figuring out if I want to go to grad school anytime soon.) I've been doing some research but I'd love some good recommendations! Things that are important to me: employment opportunities, decent cost of living, a good public transportation system and/or bike friendly, urban-ish but still good for outdoor hobbyists. Things that are less important: what part of the country its in, the weather, the general political trends, how long it takes to get there from Pittsburgh (which is where I currently live.)

I need to meet people in Austin, TX

I'm Shenee. I'm 23 and an entrepreneur living in Austin. I just moved here and looking for some new folks to hang out with in this amazing city. There is ALWAYS something awesome happening here. Since I own my own business, I spend quite a bit of time on my own, glued to my computer so I am always trying to get out and do things as much as I can. I love talking about movies and books. I love writing. I love walking around the lake. Love me some Happy Hour too.

I'm going on an epic trip and I'd like to make some friends along the way

I will be going on my first big travel adventure with my partner from May through September of this year! We're heading to South America through May and June, but will then be visiting the United States from late June to late September - EXCITED! I would LOVE to make the best of this wonderful online community and make some good friends while we're overseas. I'd love to meet people from all of the cities we're heading to, so if you'd like to make an Australian friend, please email me at to see if our paths can cross!

I need travel advice about the Pacific Northwest

I'm planning a vacation to the PNW for my husband and I and we need tips on where to go, where to stay, what to do! We want to travel between Portland and Seattle as well as areas outside of the cities. We like fresh foods, farmland and urban neighborhoods, coffee shops, bookstores (Powell's for sure!), walking, live music, and talking with people. Typical touristy stuff is good but we also want to get a real feel for the area. Travel possibly early June or early July.

I’m looking to talk to someone who attends/attended Naropa University, specifically their Early Childhood Education program.

I'm thinking about going back to school after a really bad previous college experience which has made me hesitant about school for awhile. I’ve always been really interested in Naropa from afar and their Early Childhood Ed program is making me seriously think about going back, which is frightening and awesome all at the same time. It would really help me out to talk to someone with firsthand knowledge about the school and program, especially since I’m on the east coast.

I need a French-speaking pen pal

I'm in my final year of High School doing French Language, and I'm looking for a pen pal that I can email, so I can practice my writing and grammar skills. My end of year study will be on music, art and literature. Thank you so much!

I need to know about Atlanta travel!

I'm traveling to Atlanta for the first time for a week in June to visit a friend. He'll be in classes for chunks of the day and I need ideas of great things to do/see/eat/shop in Atlanta. Any hidden gems or must see spots? Any tips are greatly appreciated!

I need a boost-and all the NICE, positive energy I can stand!

May is my birthday month and mother's day and this will be the first of each of these occasions without my mom. She died not long ago and I will miss the very big, very silly celebration we would have had. Plus, I am a step-mom, and with all the focus on actual-moms, it can be a pretty difficult month. Normally, I am the person to give this kind of support, but I am acknowledging that, this time, I need help.

Looking for friends in Kelowna, BC
After over a year and a half of traveling around the world with my husband, we are back in Canada and moving to Kelowna. I have never lived in the Okanagan before and since I don't know anyone in the city, I am looking to make friends. I am 31, love travel, food, photography, the outdoors, culture and the arts. I also speak French. I would love to find someone to watch foreign movies with, have a drink with or just share a good laugh with.

I can give you a hook up!

I can tell you about becoming a librarian

I completed my MLIS (Master of Library and Information Studies) in May 2009 (online) and have been working in my chosen career since November 2009. I've worked in academic and public libraries in public services and virtual services as well. If you wonder what it's really like to be professional librarian, ask away! I'd be happy to share my experience and knowledge and could even hook you up with a librarian in a specific part of librarianship. We network A LOT!

I can help you with essays
I'm going to be graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Sociology soon, and as dorky as this may sound, I really like writing essays, so...: I can help with proofreading, editting, writing and researching an essay (or any other type of writing, like, say a fanfic or article). I'm not a 100% expert but I've learned a lot while at university on what it takes to write a good essay, so I would love to offer as much help as I can give to anyone in need of an objective eye or a few tips.

I can help you win at college
I just graduated and spent my college career figuring out how to make it as awesome and worth every cent as possible. If you have any questions from how to make A's to how to make an impact on campus, hit me up!

I can help Resident Assistants
spent two years as an RA in a hall of more than 500 students. I can help with programming ideas, dealing with sticky situations, coming up with or making door decorations, or just calming your nerves before you're handed a group of doe-eyed freshmen! The possible scenarios can be scary, and the work overwhelming, so please hit me up!aestrusz@gmail (dot) com

I can tell people about having a kid with a cleft lip and palate

My son was born May of 2011 and has gone through both lip and palate repair surgery.  I can offer support, advice and virtual internet hugs.

  1. Mags, you should start up a Girls Night in Kelowna! All you need is one or two friends to do it... that's how Ash & I started ours, and get everyone to bring a friend!
