What's this?  Why it's our monthly bout of good-deed-doing!

Here's the deal:
1) Read these.
2) You see someone who would benefit from your expertise - you email 'em.
3) You see someone who has expertise you would benefit from - you email 'em.
4) Someone helps you?  You thank them, fortheloveofpete.

Readysetgo!

I need a hook up!

I'd like to meet people in Auckland!
I'm a 22 year old Canadian living in Auckland near the CBD until February, and I'd love to meet some people and be shown the "real" Auckland! I would love to meet new friends. I love museums and art galleries, and vintage stores. I like adventure!  I enjoy British comedy, cats, cooking, eating, seeing new sights, swimming, singing, live music, and reading good books. I'd like to meet 20-somethings who wouldn't mind stories of The Great White North and who share interests. Let's meet!

I want to become a freelance writer
I am currently doing a graduate degree in Sociology, but would love to get into freelance writing. However, as I am coming from a background in social science rather than the classic journalism/communications/English, I am not really sure how to bridge into the field of professional writing. I'd love for someone who works as a freelance writer to show me the ropes, help me locate writing opportunities and/or give suggestions on how I can improve my writing.

I'm looking for friendly, creative people to help me start a salon in London.
Of the "bringing people together" variety, not the "can I get a blow wave please?" variety (although the latter is nice, too). I'm a journalist/blogger/soon-to-be-author living in a cozy basement flat in central London, who loves to meet interesting and creative people. I'm into feminism, sociology, art, books, fashion, activism, performance, good food, dressing up and most of all, good conversation. I'm looking for potential partners in crime to help create something that combines at least some of - or better, all of - the above.

I need to know about working in occupational therapy

I would love to speak to someone who works as an occupational therapist assistant, or occupational therapist. I am considering pursuing this career path and would like to speak to people in the field, I am trying to decide if I should go back to school this year and am interested in OT.

I need to know about Americorps NCCC

My application for NCCC's Fall 2012 program is currently under review, and as the moment of truth of my acceptance/decline approaches, I find myself with more questions/doubts/worries.  I'd like to be able to ask an Alum about their experience, what they brought from home, how they got along with their teammates, how they handled medication prescriptions, and probably a million other things.  Any advice would be much appreciated!

I need to know about moving to Portland, OR.
I'm looking to relocate from the east coast in about a year, and would like to know anything and everything about Portland and the surrounding areas. Cost of living, job availability, best food cart, etc!

We'd to meet people in Seattle

My boyfriend and I are looking to make some friends. I'm searching for girlfriends who like to go out for a drink, explore the city, hiking, live music, or just a night of cooking and conversation! I would also like to meet couples who'd like to do the same with myself and my boyfriend! We are both 27, from New York, very easy going, enjoy good food, beer, wine, music and nature! Just looking to meet some new people and have a good time!

I'd like to meet people in
Las Cruces,  New Mexico

I just moved to Las Cruces in NM and I'd really like to make a friend. I'm in my early 30's and enjoy eating out, reading , playing scrabble and other indoor pursuits. I'd really like if I could find someone who doesn't mind sharing their time over brunch or going to see movie etc and can help me explore this new city.

I need someone to tell me about LASIK/PRK
I'm considering getting refractive surgery, but I'm kind of scared of making such a permanent change. I would love to be able to talk to anyone who's had it and pick your brain to know what led up to the   decision. What made you go for it? Were you scared? Do you like the results?

I need an artist to create a comic with
Sometimes inspiration hits me in comic strip form, but since my drawing skills are limited to wonky stick men, I need an artist to create the visuals. Think of it as a series of illustrated thoughts and snippets of conversation, two to three panels, humorous and thoughtful.  It's a purely voluntary, collaborative project. The comic would be featured on my blog and I'm happy for it to be on your site too. I hope for this to be an ongoing thing, putting out a comic once or twice a month, as and when ideas flow. I would be happy to try and put words to your own drawing ideas too if desired. If this tickles your fancy, I'd love to hear from you!anjanie@gmail (dot) com

I can give you a hook up!

I can help you jump into or get over your fear of learning to quilt.
Have you always wanted to quilt? I'd be happy to help you with everything from figuring out what materials you need to get started, getting comfortable with your sewing machine, selecting a quilting pattern that would be awesome to start with and then of course through constructing an actual quilt. Quilting is so rad and their no better feeling than snuggling up for a good night’s sleep under a quilt made with your own hands!

I can tell you about being a military wife
I met the man of my dreams and we've been married 8 months now. The catch? He's active duty military and was reassigned overseas a few months ago. I won't be able to join him for another 6 months so we've had to work out a good system of keeping our connection alive while we're 8,000 miles and 14 hours apart!

I can tell you about traveling to Ireland
I can talk to anyone who is thinking about studying abroad  or visiting Ireland (specifically Cork).  If you want all the ins and outs around Cork City, I'm the girl for you! I spent Spring semester there last year and I remember it like it was yesterday.  Plus, if you ever wanted to make the perfect cup of Irish  tea, I've got you covered.

I can hand out pseudo-crunchy mama advice, including (but not limited to) cloth diapering, wearing your baby & making baby food.  I can also answer questions about Ithaca and the Finger Lakes region of New York.

I can help you get trained and ready for your first distance race
10K, half marathon, marathon: whatever you want to run, I'll help coach you through it. Even if it's just a pondered thought right now. I've run a full marathon and four half marathons, and I'm preparing for my next half in March, where I'm coaching a team of 9 other runners, and in April, I'll be an on-course-coach for one of the Rock and Roll races.  I like to run, and I can try and make sure you like to run, too!

I can show you around Atlanta
I live near Atlanta, GA and I'd love to explore the city with someone! I'm twenty and pretty much up for any kind of adventure. I'd love to go to the zoo, explore little 5 points, go to the world of coke, whatever! morgandoubleyou@comcast (dot) net

I can talk to you about Celiac Disease

I have Celiac Disease and can help guide those who have recently been diagnosed with a gluten intolerance/sensitivity/allergy.  I can help with recipes, GF products (tell you which ones are awesome & which ones are TERRIBLE), and just be a listening ear.   Also as a grad student, I understand being GF on a budget!

I can tell you about Milwaukee/offer a spare room for Milwaukee travelers:
Coming to or passing through the Milwakuee area?  Need a place to crash? Looking to make a new friend? Not sure what to do in this little big city?  I can direct you to the best local fare for all tastes: restaurants, bars, nightlife, shopping, museums, budget-friendly fun, etc. I'm a 27-year-old social butterfly always open to meeting new people.  I also have a house with a spare bedroom for a nice, private place to for a weary traveler to rest after a day of exploring.

I can also show you around Budapest, Hungary if you are traveling through the region! Originally from Canada, about 6 months ago I decided to make the move to Budapest.
