Real Life Style Icons: Marie of Agent Lover

This is one of many bi-weekly interviews with a Real Life Style Icon. Gorgeous, funny, clever ladies that we want to befriend! And then steal all their clothes.

Name: Marie Lodi aka Agent Lover
Age: Too fine for 29
Location: Sexy SoCal
Online haunts: my blog, my twitter, my facebook!

Three reasons that you're awesome: AHHH! It's hard bragging about myself on the spot! BELIEVE IT OR NOT. Let's ask three of my closest:

1. Lexicon is as if she lives slightly in the future. - Lola
2. Intense extrasensory perception. - Emi
3. She puts the bang in bangs. - Man Baby

How did you dress as a kid?
When I was in preschool a little boy told his mom, "Marie wears pretty dresses every day." When I got a little older I was a total 80's kid. I wanted to be Janet Jackson. I wanted to take you on an Escapade. I wanted to be a part of a Rhythm Nation.... but never got to wear that cool key earring in one ear. Should I bring it back?

Where do you find style inspiration?
Film. Music. Literature. Traveling. I always buy red shoes because of Hans Christian Andersen's story, The Red Shoes. I dress according to my mood which varies from 60's satanic schoolgirls, Anna Karina, Salt N' Pepa, or slutty Madonna. My Tokyo trip was a never ending source of inspiration not just for fashion but for MY LIFE! I also adore the way the girls in Sweden dress and would love to get that country stamped in my passport next.

When did you become interested in fashion?
Surely it was when I was a kid daydreaming about being glamorous! I LOVED the outfits on Dynasty! Of course I was wearing leggings, a Bart Simpson shirt and L.A. Gears, but don't think for a mome I wasn't fantasizing about parading around in some ruffled power dress, dripping diamonds à la Joan Collins.

Where are your favorite places to shop?
I always go to Betsey Johnson for party dresses and purses, H&M and Target for basics and to lurk their collabos, flea markets, thrift and vintage shops for my 60's-90's dresses and chola stores for hoodrat flair. I'm a huge accessory whore-der, especially rings so I will look for those wherever I go. Most hats and hair accessories are homemade by me or my amazing best friend Emi.

Could you tell us your top three style tricks/DIYs?
1. It's so cliche but the key to great style really is confidence! Being comfortable and happy in your own skin is the best magic trick of them all. Once you lasso that in, I feel like you'll be able to rock any style you desire.

2. Since I am a Bangs Queen, I have to share the recent tutorial I wrote!

3. Oh! And after a night of partying, drink a huge glass of water before bed. :P

Thanks so much, Marie! Do you guys have any questions for our lovely Agent Lover?

She is amazing! I love her style, it's really refreshing to see someone who varies their look a lot but still has a cohesive style.

She's cool! Love that last shirt. I'm inspired to sew heart shaped buttons onto everything in my wardrobe :)
