Isn't this fantastic? Every single piece of art on display at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC! Have you ever been? I was there in 2008 - I felt like a groupie! "Look! There's a Warhol! Quick, take my picture next to it!"
Very cool-- I've never been! I've only been to the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston (I'm from Mass), which is AWESOME, by the way, if you enjoy ancient art from different cultures. I'm planning on taking my boyfriend for the first time for our third anniversary this November.
I live near NY, & SUNY Students get in to MoMA for free... I can't even begin to tell you how smug it makes me feel to just roll straight past the lines & grab my ticket. It becomes a hangout for me when I'm waiting for something else to start, really.
I fell in love with Richard Serra, one of the visiting displays, there. Too bad it doesn't stick around!
I went over halloween last year. I was in the middle of an art appriciation class, and so when I went, it was awesome to be able to say "oh, that is ____. a little about the painting____".
This video seriously brought back memories (although from not too long ago) of my friend and I, running around, being amazed at how close we were to things we had seen all our lives.
I went...eight years ago, already! A the time MoMA was under construction and had the highlights of the collection on display in Queens. Guess it's time to go back! That was my favorite part of my trip to New York. I'm such an art groupie too! For my 16th birthday I was surprised with a trip to the Andy Warhol museum in scenic Pittsburgh! My ambition is to be an art professor so I can just nerd out and yak about art all day! Well, I do that anyway, but still.
@Bef with an F - If you want to see more from Richard Serra, take the Metro-North Hudson Line up to Beacon, and check out Dia:Beacon! It's a beautiful ride along the river, and Beacon is a cool little town! (I live there :))

I have not been. I wasted my time when I went to NY.
I wrote about you and used one of your pictures. If you don't want me too, let me know so I can hate you forever :)

That video is almost as overwhelming as the museum. I've been once a couple of summers ago. I like modern art, but prefer Renaissance paintings.
