Happy Birthday Yes and Yes! How exciting!
My favorite birthday present would have to be the slip-n-slide I got one year, the kicker is it was for my 18th birthday. I had always wanted one so my best friend got me one. Then we (along with 2 other good friends) took it outside in a thunderstorm and played until our little hearts were content. It was like being 5 again and I loved it!

So... this pretty much looks like the best giveaway of all time...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Yes and Yes!!

My favourite birthday gift would have to be from when I was 10 years old. My dad bought me a cassette player. It was chunky and very yellow with giant grey buttons that clicked really loudly when pressed! It had three functions: Stop. Rewind and Play!

Well my favorite bday gift would have to be the car stereo/speakers set I recieved for my old car a couple of years back.

The only thing I absolutely need in a car is good sound quality for my music, so when my parents bought me those speakers for the old hand-me-down family car, I was thrilled.

The only bad thing was I totalled the car about a month later. Suck!

This is fabulous, Sarah! I'm in!! My fave birthday present was a full day of aquatic-related activities and gifts that Joe gave me a couple of years ago. We went to the Shedd aquarium, walked through the rain to the Children's museum (I don't think the rain was part of the plan, but it tied together well) and had sushi for dinner. Theme birthdays rock!

Best birthday gift to date, I'm 7 years old and the marketing genius's at Mattell have worked their magic-I WANT a Puppy Surprise, and wouldn't you know my passionate commitment to my desire for 5 months (yep, five months for a 7 year old) worked out!

From then on I've been a believer in the law of attraction. and right now I'm attracting the polymer necklace :)

My favorite birthday present would have to be my 16th birthday present from my Dad. We are a middle-class frugal family so this was truly spectacular. He took me to the top of the Hancock building in Chicago for dinner and a carriage ride and gave me a pink sapphire ring. I love my father and treasure the time that we got to spend together!

Happy Birthday, yes and yes! It's amazing to know that such an inspiring blog is in it for the long haul. I love the owl bookmark!

My favourite birthday present was from someone I didn't eve know cared that it was my birthday. I had been going through a tough time, and it seemed that a lot of the people I considered 'friends' didn't seem to notice. This girl haf heard about what was going on, and came up to me at work and handed me a little tealight. As she placed it on the counter, she said 'I heard you could use a little light in your life', and smiled. She was right.

Coincidentally, there was a terrible storm that night and the power went out while I was writing an important letter. Just as I thought to myself 'This can't get any worse! I realized I had the perfect candle to light up my night, and finished my letter with it. It was kind of surreal.

I started to re evaluate those I kept close to me. I've since gained the most wonderful group of supportive friends, her being my best. Lin, if you're reading this, I love you!

How fun! Happy 2-year-birthday to yes and yes! My favorite birthday gift was probably the scrapbook my sister made for me the year I graduated from high school (my birthday was right around graduation). It was chock-full of family pictures and my favorite quotes-- such a thoughtful gift!

This is such a phenomenal idea! I love seeing how creative your readers are!

The best birthday present I ever received was a vintage copy of ee cummings fairy tales...the original with the cool illustrations. There is one titled "The House That Fell In Love With A Bird." How can you not love that?

It was a very trying time in my life-stress, illness and finances. I was washed out with despair...my friend wanted me to remember that I still that magical part of me inside and get it touch with it again. I did and am forever grateful.

Christi said...

My favourite birthday gift was a Nikon D60, given to me by my parents when I was in high school. We didn't have much money growing up, so I was more than surprised when I opened it up.

Photography keeps me outside exploring nature, so I can share it with others. It also got me a small scholarship to college!

While digital is amazing, I have to say that I miss the days of rolling my own film, developing the film and enlarging the photos. Being in the dark room, seeing a picture appearing before your eyes? It's such a fulfilling experience.

I have been very lucky when it comes to great birthday gifts. My favorite birthday present was my 8th birthday party. It was my golden birthday and my Mom bedazzeled me a golden shirt with golden animal-print leggings and gold-fringe socks. I had a gold cake with gold candles and I got a gold locket with my birthday, initials, and "golden birthday" engraved on the side. It has a picture on Mom and Dad on the inside :)

My birthday falls exactly one week before Christmas, so my family has always tried to make them separate events, not lump them together.

My favorite birthday gift was in 2001 - the day after my birthday I was travelling home from an internship at Walt Disney World. I thought just my parents were picking me up, but my entire family met me at the airport, wearing cardboard Mickey Mouse ears, holding signs and singing "It's a Small World." We got home, and we all had cake. It was honestly the best birthday I can remember.

Please email me via the contact form on my website - I'm uncomfortable putting my full e-mail address here. Thanks, and sorry!

Happy Birthday!!! That necklace is GORGEOUS!

My fave birthday present has to be the pearl drop necklace on a delicate gold chain that my boyfriend got me...after only two months of dating! (We started dating RIGHT before presents season--Chrismas, my birthday in January, his in Feb, and of course Valentine's Day.) Some guys would have freaked out, and it wasn't the extravagance of the gift so much that I loved, but that it showed how crazy he was about me already and that he was in it for the long haul!

Happy anniversary! These gifts are amazing! My favorite birthday gift was probably the pearl (my birthstone) ring my mom got me for my 16th birthday. Actually, my birthday is coming up in the next few weeks and this year I'm celebrating by going to New York and seeing Wicked! YAY!

oh, my sweet daddy gave me the best birthday present!
When I was a baby, he bought a beautiful and delicate flower-shaped diamond necklace. He kept it hidden from my mama through two moves, and then let her in on the secret because he was afraid he'd lose it!
On my 16th birthday, he presented me with a small velvet box that had his first business card folded on top. I lifted the card and found one of the most special gifts I've ever received. It means so much to me still!

I think my favourite gift ever was my first diary. It was one of those lockable ones marketed to young teenage girls and I think I was about 11 years old at the time. I love, love, love Karma cards. I have a similar deck called Wisdom Cards and I love to just hand them to people.

My mom and dad gave me a new digital camera last year. I wasn't expecting it - I had their old one and it wasn't quite working right, but I wasn't ready to give up on it. They know how much I love to take pictures, so it was extra special of them to think of it.

My favourite birthday gift was the underwater camera I got for my 9th birthday (which was a pool/baseball party). It was bright yellow and probably weighed two pounds, but I got a whole lotta uses out of it before it called quits a few years later (9-year-olds aren't always attentative with things like cameras).
For this birthday, I could totally use me some delicious coffee! You can let me know if I got lucky (or just say hi!) at fille.banane@gmail.com or check out my baby-blog at http://labanane.tumblr.com/

I'm torn when it comes to my favorite birthday gift. The obvious choice is the Nikon D200 that I received two years ago from my father: I was expecting, maybe, if I was lucky, a D90, and I was really wowed when I opened the box. So wowed that I ran around waving the instruction manual at people and squealing.

I think the winner, though, is what my husband got me on the first birthday we spent together. He had broken up with me the night before (forgetting that it was my birthday), and when he realized what he had done, felt awful. He wanted to do something to make it up to me, but it was 3am and he didn't have a car. His solution was to dig up flowers from the landscaping in front of our dorm, put them in Styrofoam cups, and set them all around my room.

I don't think I've ever been more surprised than when I woke up miserable on my birthday to find that he'd gone to all that trouble (and he retracted the breakup, too!).

What great giveaway items! So many great options! Love that bookmark...

My favorite birthday present (thus far) was the gift I received when I turned eight years old. It was my golden birthday (turning eight on the eighth of the month) and my mouth had just been filled with braces. I had a retainer, the head gear that wrapped around my head... you name it. I went from being chipper and chatty to quiet and depressed. Imagine my surprise when I came home from school one day and there was a kitten in the laundry room! My dad claimed he was allergic all these years, but it turns out he just didn't like cats. However, he adopted a kitten for me because he knew how much I loved animals. She lived for 16 years and was an amazing, loving pet!

I think the best present I have received was the Holly Golightly's Truly She is None Other on vinyl. I had mentioned loving one of the songs on the album, and he had looked all over and finally ordered it for me. It was a complete surprise and absolutely the perfect gift.

My fave birthday gift?

A deer antler!

My dad and brother found it one year in the forest. They thought "Ginger would like that!" (I like nature-y stuff) picked it up and cleaned the moss off and presented it to me on the big day. (It was a naturally shed antler, no animal harm!)

I thought it was so sweet that they thought of me and knew that I would love it! Plus it's just really cool-looking.

As for the gifts on offer, I really like that necklace! I will definitely check these sellers out :)

2 years, wow, congratulations on the success! Here's hoping Yes&yes many birthdays to come!

The best birthday gift that I can recall right now would be from my last birthday, my 18th. My parents managed to send me on my college program's trip to New York. Four days running around that city with some of the greatest people I've ever met. Plus we were all Fine Arts students, so you can imagine how much we gorged ourselves on the museums (I spent half a day just in the Met's Egyptian exhibit), and yet there was so much that we didn't get to see! So of course another trip is in the works.

What a nice giveaway! And how cool is Rhomany.

My favorite birthday gift...the thing that always springs to mind and makes me smile is the toy version of a McDonalds Happy Meal. I was around the age of seven and we had foregone a party with my friends that year so it was pretty much just my parents and grandmas sitting at the dining room table with me. A pretty serious birthday for a little kid, and seeing all the bright plastic components of the hamburger, drink, fries, and Happy Meal box just lit me up. And even though I'm twenty-five, I think I would still be giddy to get something like that, silly as it may sound.

I imagine karma cards would be the adult version of that.

my favorite birthday gift, I think, was last year when I was abroad and feeling kind of sad to be away from most of my friends for my 20th. A few of the girls from my program kidnapped me from classes, took me to lunch, and then made me a cake.

I then met a charming boy while out that night, who I ended up seeing for a while- that was also a lovely gift :)

Birthdays are the most incredible thing ever! I try to celebrate mine for a week at least. My favorite birthday gift was the year my friend came down to see me on my birthday (which was a gift enough!) and we went on bike rides and she made me strawberry shortcakes because it's my favorite birthday dessert. They were beautiful and it meant so much to me that she had done that.

My favortie birthday present is from this year. My husband and I got married without all the to do, no proposal. Just hey we live together, we have a kid, lets get married. And last year we seperated. We got back together and are actually better then before. But for my birthday he took me to where we first met and proposed to me in front of all the people and it made me cry in an amazing way.

Happy birthday to Yes and Yes.

At any rate, happy birthday, and some brave soul will be much luckier than me!!

My favorite birthday gift? A basketball. Not that there was anything special about the basketball. It was the presentation. See, it wasn't my birthday, it was my dad's, and after some big fancy breakfast and all us kids gave him our little presents, Dad said, "just a minute..." disappeared around the corner, and with a great big plastic bag full of gifts for all of us singing a "Very Merry Unbirthday" as he distributed them. My dad rocks.

Happy birthday to you, yesandyes!

I love thoughtful gifts instead of perfunctory ones. So my favourite gift was small but special. My parents always give me something from the two of them. The year I turned 18 got a present from just my Dad. He's a pretty shy man and not at all open about feelings or anything. He had given me a Far Side desk calendar with a new comic for everyday. I loved this gift so much because it showed me that he understood and appreciated me and my sense of humour, something we now openly share!

These are fabulous! My favorite birthday gifts were both from my husband - the first gift he ever gave me and the one this year. My husband I met in 10th grade and became good friends in 11th grade. Partway through 11th grade, I started to really like him, especially when he became hospitalized for a few weeks and just seemed sooo brave. (I didn't hear all of the whining to his parents!) My birthday party was the first thing out of the house that he went to after being hospitalized and he gave me this adorable ridiculous orange fluffy thing that made a "boing!" noise when you hit it on the floor. Absolutely ridiculous and cute and perfect. This year, he made me chocolate lava cakes and reservations at Volt, the restaurant from the runner-up on Top Chef. The food was amazing, and my husband is a culinary student, so it was really fun to share the experience of eating such great food with him.

Oh! I like this question. My favorite birthday gift was for my 14th birthday and my best friend at the time, Andrea, gave me a coconut. I had never had one before and they always made me curious. What was sweeter than the coconut was the fact that she wrapped it up in bright pink tissue paper and tape. So all day long (it was a school day) I walked around with a bright pink ball of sweetness.

He gave me a new kitten, Lilly, who has been a constant companion, confidant and someone to hold and love on those days that I just don't feel so great. When I need a pick me up or having a bad day, Lilly is a constant, sweet reminder that all is not bad. It is a birthday gift that keeps on giving. He did good.

Best present ever? Two hand knit scarves from Mexico that my housemates at surf camp gave me just this past Sunday for my 25th birthday. Love this idea...

My favourite birthday gift was last year. I turned 20 twelve days after I moved to England for an exchange, and my new flatmates bought me a polka dot mug because they knew I was homesick, and I had lamented on my lack of a "special" mug to drink hot chocolate (or tea, because they were determined to bring me over to the dark side!) in. Unfortunately, I broke it a few weeks later, but I taped it up and planed a little flower for my windowsill, and to remind myself how awesome my new friends were!

My absolute favorite birthday gift was a debutante ball for my 16th birthday. I had always wanted to be in a fancy ball, and an organization in the Greater DC area was having one, so my mom said I could do it, but it would be the only present I got. I've never said YES so fast! It's kind of silly, but turning 16 in a pretty ball gown and a tiara was all of my childhood dreams come true.

My favourite birthday present ever was when my husband and I were first going out (we'd only been together a couple of months) and he made me a CD with all of the songs that reminded him of me (or us). He called it "When Darth Met Tinkerbell" (I love Tinkerbell and he loves Star Wars). He even designed an album cover and explained why he had chosen each song. I cried for about an hour! There have been other editions since like "Darth & Tinkerbell's first Christmas" and "When Darth asked Tinkerbell to marry him" (that's how he proposed to me!) He's such an old romantic. x

When I was 11, I got my own bedroom for my birthday...going from sharing with my three sisters to my very own space was blissful. Although I outgrew the color on the walls (lime green was my favorite color for about six months right around then), the fact that my mom cleaned out the combination room/office/catch-all room, painted it and collected furniture for it all while I was at school (while caring for two children under the age of 5) still makes me feel loved.

My favorite birthday present was from my then-boyfriend (now-fiance) during freshman year of college. We went to different schools and were just figuring out the long distance thing when he surprised me with a pair of tickets to go see Wicked. I'd spent many work evenings the summer previously trying to win the lottery tickets they'd had, without any success. He'd even asked me, after he'd bought them, what my perfect gift would be and that was totally it! I think he might regret it a little now because he'll probably never top that one.

It's really difficult to choose a favorite birthday gift! What is standing out to me right now is the gift that my boyfriend gave me for my first birthday when we were together. We'd only been dating about a month. He knew that I loved poetry, and although he'd never read much poetry before, he went to a bookstore and spent a long time looking through the poetry section trying to find something I liked. He picked out a book by a poet I had never heard of before, but I ended up loving it, and especially the thoughtfulness behind the gift.

My favorite birthday present was from when I was 18. I'd been really into wildlife rescues at the time and had taken to watching those hour-long infomercials on how to save animal lives, though I couldn't afford to donate any money, myself. My mom went to Build-a-Bear and bought me a stuffed leopard that they sold - and they donated 100% of the profits to the World Wildlife Fund. I still sleep with the doll, hoping the money for him went to saving some precious lives out there.

Happy Birthday Sarah!

I don't know if you would call this my favourite birthday gift or most memorable, but it definitely sticks out in my mind. For as long as I can remember my grandfather was a cold, hardened kind of guy. He never really formed a relationship with my father so everyone was surprised when he took a shine to me.

Around my sixth or seventh birthday he gave me a homemade stuffed bear with lopsided eyes. I don't remember where he got it from or why he gave it to me but I remember feeling really special. He's since passed away and as I aged his affection and respect for me faded, but that bear reminds me of the connection we'd had.

I hope you have some great memories this year!
