Last Summer, the sidewalks were torn up in my neighborhood to repair some rather ancient pipes. And when they replaced the pavement, the city of St. Paul imprinted poems into the fresh cement. Isn't that fantastic?! Now that the snow and ice are finally gone, we can see these lovely verses again. I love walking to the coffee shop and passing these.

I adore the last one. Something about it... I wish my town (small as it is) did something cool like have poetry in the sidewalks! That is so unbelievably cool. And really innovative. I'm sure if there was poetry in sidewalks people would be mre inclined to walk places because you'd never know what you'd find written there!
I can't believe someone would take the time to imprint those poems... Wow, nice...
That is such a wonderful idea! Some one wrote "one love" and other such phrases down my street in thick texta. Not quite as good but still nice to see.
I love these so much! They're so much more beautiful than plain, ordinary sidewalks.
super wonderful! this would make my day every day! I feel like I'll have to do this if I'm ever having concrete poured... or if I ever see wet cement! :-D shhhhhh!
Oh my... That is amazing... A while ago someone wrote chapters of the constitution on the pavement in chalk near my uni campus... but it was not nearly as lyrical... or permanent...
What a lovely idea - my parents have my sister's handprints around the edges of their cement patio, but poems would have been awesome! I'll have to remember this for my own garden :D
These are great! Kudos to the one who did it.
I love this so much! I think poetry should be mandatory for every sidewalk. =)
LOVE! If I ever have to have concrete poured at my own house, I will definitely think of having this done. :)
This is such a lovely idea. I wish there was something like that round here!
That is super cool.
OMG!
I want someone to do this to our sidewalk!
Oh how I LOVE this!
Amazing idea. Kind of like "If only these walls could talk" but instead it's the concrete! LOVE IT.
Love it! Thanks for sharing =)
I love finding these sidewalk poems! I seem to remember hearing that some of them were written by residents, but I could be making that up...
I love seeing St. Paul stuff on your blog that I'm actually familiar with!
those are really inspiring.
