It's my Birthday, y'all! Or, more accurately, The Day Before My Birthday! Since this is the big three-oh, I decided that I probably needed to stretch out the celebration over a three day weekend - none of this quietly getting dinner with a few friends. I'd prefer to be a bit over the top, thank you very much. The plans?
I'm spending most of Friday having a very reasonably priced spa day at the Aveda Institute, being waxed and polished and rubbed into a very relaxed version of myself. Then I'm packing up some of my favorite ladies for a showing of some delicious bit of chick flick frippery. Maybe 500 Days of Summer? Or Julie and Julia? Any suggestions?
Saturday, my ladies and I are brunching at this awesome Oscar Wilde themed cafe before we head out to the mall. Now, I realize that mall-trolling might not strike you as a particularly revolutionary way to spend a Saturday - but would you believe it if I told you that I have been to a mall all of twice since I moved back to America from New Zealand? Generally, malls aren't my scene. But I could go in for a bit of non-thrift, non-boutique shopping on my bee-day. Saturday night, every blessed person I know is joining me for appetizers and a neighborhood pub crawl. Sweeneys and The Muddy Pig and The Happy Gnome, oh my!
I anticipate waking up late on Sunday and making list after list of new goals for my new decade. Possibly plot what will happen now that I'm officially finished with my self-imposed dating haitus. Put together a great outfit to attend a guilty pleasure concert put on by my girlfriend Kelly Clarkson. Because what girl who's ever traveled/grown up in a small town/wanted something more from life doesn't get weepy over Breakaway?
In the event that you're wondering what to get me, I really want this ridiculous cat-sized fighter jet, this cute lil paper-clip bird and a subscription to one of those Cheese of the Month Club. And an engraved flask.
How did you ring in your most recent birthday?

And here's to the next thirty. :D
Happy pre-Birthday, hon! I say see 500 Days AND Julie & Julia.
Hope you have a great birthday! Sounds like you have some nice plans! I'm sure it will be a lot of fun!
My 21st is a little over a week away. I haven't even made plans yet!
I hope you have a fabulous time with your birthday celebrations!
Sarah have a fantastic birthday! Sounds like you have quite a wonderful, memorable weekend planned. I hope that your year ahead is full of great adventures and the wonderful stories that accompany them.
Happy Birthday! 30 has been my best year I hope it is yours as well.
For my 30th last year (which was my most recent) My husband surprised me with a trip to MYC (by bus we are in beantown) and tickets to see wicked on broadway and then the next day he surprised me with brunch with my BFF (NYCer i NEVER get to see)
Happy day before your birthday to you, happy day before your birthday to you, happy day before your birthday dear Sarah, happy day before your birthday to you!
Happy, happy birthday! :)
Happy Birthday, my dear!!! It sounds like you have an amazing weekend planned. It also sounds like you are following my own philosophy of: the older you get, the longer and crazier your birthday celebrations should get...
And did you say an Oscar Wilde-themed restaurant??? That sounds insanely wonderful!!!
Happy birthday! I hope you have a wonderful time, and I so love that little paper clip birdy too! hehe.

Happy happy! And I think a weekend-long shindig is the best way to celebrate (that Wilde cafe is killing me, btw).
My mother has had a "theme" for each of her last three decades: 30s were "How can I help?", 40s were "Fuck you", and now the 50s are "Say 'yes' to adventure". Since she turned 50, she's done INCREDIBLE things (the only reason she didn't go skydiving is because the weather turned nasty!). You're already in "say 'yes' to adventure" mode, so I'd say you're waaaaay ahead of the game.
Here's hoping that your 30s is marked with wonderful, fantastical, and beautiful moments. <3
Happy Birthday, live it up!
Happy Birthday!!! Enjoy your weekend very much!!!
"Parabéns pra você,
Nesta data querida,
Muitas felicidades,
Muitos anos de vida!"
*sang in the same tune as the traditional Happy Birthday To You*
Hooray! Have a magnificent birthday Sarah! If you're ever down in Texas, I'll owe you a belated birthday cupcake.
Happy Birthday! It sounds like you have a wonderful celebration planned. My 30th next year is definetly going to be inspired by your approach! I'm planning to do my own version of 30 new things.
Enjoy your weekend!
Happy Birthday Miss Yes! Your weekend plans sound fabulous. Although I had a party a day before my birthday, with all my lovely friends in attendence, on my actual birthday I took the day off work and was laaaazy. It was just what I needed.
Hope you have an amazing birthday weekend!
Happy birthday! It sounds like you're going to have a fab weekend. I love that photo of Marilyn, by the way.
And there's nothing wrong with mall shopping on the b-day! For my last birthday, I had to work for 12 hours. It was dreadful. I would have loved to go the mall. Hehe.
Happy Birthday! I like your plan a lot, too. Love Oscar Wilde, and some sensless mall shopping is probably good for the soul.
For my last birthday, my parents came over to my new flat with a bag of gifts and i sat on the floor and opened them like a little kid! Later in the week they took me to a pizzeria, after which we indulged in two Ben & Jerry's flavours.
Happy, Happy Birthday Weekend! :)
Haapy birthday to yoooooou! You put a HUGE dent into your list, so impressive! Have a fantastic weekend!

Enjoy Julie and Julia, awesome movie.
For my friend's 30th in a few weeks, we are booked to take trapeze lessons, then lunch somewhere fabulous, then go to the Aveda Institute for facials (half off if you have a student work on you).

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Enjoy it all!
My last birthday in July (the last of my THIRTIES!) was stretched out over a week (beach party, tea party, swanky restaurant party, cake, cake and more cake!) and then we went on a seven day cruise! YAY!
May you be blessed with happiness, health, friendship and love. What else does one need...? Okay, maybe CHOCOLATE! :D
Happy Birthday! Sounds like it's going to be a fabulous 3 day bee-day. :)
Thank you guys so much for all the lovely birthday wishes! I have been 30 for exactly three hours now, and thus far, it's great!
Happy Birthday, sounds like a fabulous weekend!
well happy birthday to you, then! :D
i hope you enjoyed your long weekend & had a lot of fun celebrating for nearly 3 days ^^
i usually celebrate my birthday with inviting my most important friends & people around & cooking for them. last time: cooking for 20 people. but this year(my 24th) is going to be great: my boyfriend and me (his birthday is one week after mine) are giving a roaring twenties party! more than 50 people are planned, i hope everyone tries to look at least a little like the 20's & has a blast, because that's the most important thing: having fun.
enjoy your sunday, hopefully without a hangover (;

HAPPY BELATED 30TH!!! Sounds like a perfect weekend you had planned. Did you enjoy it??? I know you'll have stories and pictures to post over the next few days, and I am very much looking forward to them.
My last birthday, two months ago, was sort of a split celebration, since it fell two weeks after we bought the house. So, the actual day was spent getting my car inspected in my new state, cleaning up the house, indulging in a sinfully spalicous pedicure, dinner on Thayer St. in Providence with boyfriend, then a night of drinking and cleaning his old apartment! LOL... But, the real celebration was two weeks ago when I went to the New England country music festival to see my fav Kenny Chesney. 3 hours of tailgating and country music fun!
Hope you had the best day ever! <3 Love the new header too! :)
Happy Birthday, lady!
The new header is sweet. :)
Belated happy birthday!
