A cold, rainy night -
old friends, new food, seems good, right?
Sadly underspiced.
But I can look past
But I can look past
this to eat with my fingers.
Fingerfood trumps alllllll.
Have you ever tried Ethiopian food? Did I just get a mediocre batch?

You got a bad batch. Ethiopian food is AMAZING.
Ethiopian food is my favorite! You got a bad batch...they're probably used to the Minnesotans who can't handle any spice at all. Give it another try. Ask for the spicy!
Yup... you need to give it another try. I used to go to a place in Chicago with friends years ago that was sooooo flippin' good!
I've never tasted Ethiopian food before. There really aren't any ethnic restaurants around my current neck of the woods.
I haz a sad. My local Ethiopian place (in Reno, go figure) is always gorgeously spiced but not so hot that I can't eat it. I specifically try and go there on certain nights since they don't serve the beans every night. And the mushy peas were TO DIE FOR. Try again, somewhere different, or ask for more heat. Mostly it's flavor, not heat, but it should still be strong.
all the places i';ve been too are quite good but i really find the bread that you are supposed to eat it all with a bit much. it kind of makes me feel nauseous - the weirdly salty doughyness. hmmm.
cute review!
ive never tried ethippian food, but now u've made me curious! :)
where did you go for it? my favorite is fasika on snelling, just north of university in st. paul. i've heard the blue nile is only so-so, but have never been.
Laura,
I DID go to Fasika! Maybe I just need to try different dishes? I did the lentil one, the cabbage one and the one with greens. It was all just a bit sour/vinagar-y and cheese-less for me. :/
ack, no! sigh. hmmm. i guess i have only ever gone with friends and gotten the big thing that is like a sampler that you share? i wish i could remember the name. it has lentils and lamb and chicken and eggs and cheese. i don't remember any overly sour taste. . . i would encourage you to give it another try, although i bet there are some other great places in our fair cities.
Ethiopian food is awesome. I like extra spicy food and i think its just perfect. I used to eat it all the time when I lived there a couple of years ago. Have u tried Injera and doro wot (chicken sauce). It tastes great.
