What It Feels Like

If you could edit the inside of a backpacker's brain into a video, and then set it to gorgeous warblings of my cutie (and single!) friend Dereck, this is what it would look like:

The Broken Part

Really, this is how this is how my heart feels when I think of the steamy, crowded foolishness of SouthEast Asia. And that bit with the fireworks being shot into the crowd? And all the people in helmets jumping around? I'm the blue helmet.

Awesome video! I hope you don't think this odd but I stumbled upon your blog yesterday (from a friend of a friend's blog) and I just think it's fabulous! Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself so I'm not the "weird lurker girl" leaving you comments. :)

WOW!

RE: Revolutionary Road. Finished it now, and although it was incredibly sad and I did wish for a happier outcome, a tiny part of me felt gleeful because exactly what I predicted happened ;)

That was really beautiful.... but I do have to ask if that was a cat on the grill? Complete with skin and fur? Anyway, the song and video were really lovely. Thanks for sharing.

Rachael: Welcome to the party! We're glad you're here :)

Kelly: I'm not sure, but Dereck's myspace music page is here:http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewProfile&friendID=150803049

Bethany: I'm not sure - I hope not! In my experience, the cat-eating is more urban myth than anything else. But we'd all eat most things if we got hungry enough, right? :)

Katie: *blush* thanks! I'm glad you like it!

Jaleh: The feeling is mutual! So mutual that I think your blog needs a place on my blog roll!

This is beautiful.

Thank you so much for all of the travel related posts; I am about to quit my job to travel (in 12 work days!!). Lord but it's rare to find backpacker types online who are practical but still want to look cute. Thanks for the good advice!

Jasmine!

Thanks so much! The fashionable backpacker are rare birds, aren't we? Also: Where are you going and what are you doing?!

We are going to Mexico and also Guatemala and Belize! We'll be staying at some volunteer places, for sea turtles and orphans. I'm trying to work that out right now. I'm also trying to decide where we will be for Carnival, I have no idea how to choose! I know your Bolivian town will be super kickass. My itinerary is here: http://giltmenagerie.com/mexico-travel-itinerary/

My husband and I are both quitting our jobs and going in a new direction career-wise; I am going to start a business as a freelance florist and he is going back to school. So we're going to be jobless and homeless for a few months at least!

This makes me heart beat faster and my wanderlust deepen. I love the end setting off the hot air balloons!

Freya - isn't that gorgeous? Those are actually for Lantern Festival. People write their wishes for the new year on them before they send them off, usually out over the ocean. !!! Amazing, right?

You, Mrs Freethinker, are my people. :)

Well I'm going to go on record and say that SVB is just the nicest person there is.
Ask her where she's going and then hunt her down travel with her.

*Posting a link to my neglected blog makes me wince a bit. I need to get back in the game.
**It was a flying squirrel on the grill and for those interested - it wasn't bad...
***The song was a demo recorded on my computer while in Taiwan. Thank you for liking it.
****Still single.

Me again, the anonymous poster who asked for solutions for wanderlust awhile back. This post brought a tear to my eye (Korea memoires)Sarah: Your upcoming adventure sounds perfect! Enjoy. Alas, we, too, were planning to resume our international teaching careers in a few months, but decided the present economic situations would make this a bit riskier than in the past. Safe travels to you!
