Has this ever happened to you? You're trolling happily through the MSN movie trailers and you see an ad for the latest Leo DiCaprio/Kate Winslet movie. "Ooooh, fifties dresses!" you think. "Based on an award-winning novel!" you think.
And then you watch the trailer and all the air is sucked out of the room because there? On your screen? is your deepest and most personal fear edited into two hours of tasteful cinematography. You feel like someone has punched you in the stomach.
Of course, I have to see it in the theater. It comes out on December 26th. You'll find me in the back row, biting off all my nails and hyperventilating.

Yep, that sent shivers up my spine and made me want to jump on the closest plane!
I read the book and it's pretty numbing...
yuuuuuuhhhhhck.
I know, right?! For further gut-wrenching, check out the synopsis and the heart breaking ending! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revolutionary_Road
Some might call it a fear of commitment, I call it not wanting to end up like that...
Why are people so determined to ruin a perfectly good thing with marriage?
By the way, have I ever mentioned I was cynical?
I just got the chills and a stomach ache. No thank you! (But I do want to see it!)
Ouch, scary. One of the worst possible things to happen in a marriage.
Gaaahhh that was my reaction too!
Seems like they need some hobbies...
I'm kidding around. Really, that is terrifying. I like that the preview doesn't really seem to give anything away...unless the entire movie is about the ennui of suburban living?
That was intense. I think I might have to go order the book off of Amazon... like now.
We so often ask "What is life?" A brief candle, the player who struts his hour on the stage and is heard no more? (Macbeth)
Nope, life's what you make of it. Break the norm, so what if Aunt May is wondering why you're not married, so what if cousin James is bragging about his kids and you don't have any
As Shakespeare continues...
It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.
oh wow, looks like an intense movie!
im not a titanic fan by any means, but leonardo and kate have such great chemistry
Goodness, it looks terrifying! I definitely won't be seeing it - I'm the biggest movie wuss ever, and if I *do* get dragged to see movies like this, I usually just spend $15 to hide under my seat! :p
Scary but intriguing! I've been watching a lot of Mad Men lately, which is excellent and terrifying in the same way.
Gosh that does look really intense - it's amazing to think that the scariest thing isn't monsters or aliens but it's our own propensity for getting stuck in a rut and destroying our own dreams.
I cannot wait to see this. <3 they work so brilliantly together.
I could so not live like that. I would so feel trapped and end up taking off without telling the husband where I was going....if I had one.
I am just not made for suburbian housewife living. It would be depressing and soul sucking to me.
This film will depress me when I see it because I know many people life this way for fear of the unknown.
I know what you mean. The few times I saw the trailer, it sent cold shivers up my spine and made me feel sick to my stomach. It looks heartbreaking.
Did I ever mention Yates wrote that book while living in my town?
Yeah. So don't complain to me about your suburban teenage angst, because mine is more literally acclaimed.
This looks amazing! But I couldn't help but think "Titanic: the sequel".
I don't know why this made me cry?? I don't think a trailer has before.
I DEFINITELY need to read and then watch this. Thanks for reminding me.
BTW Leo is HOTNESS PERSONIFIED.
wow, that looks amazing.
who would've thought that we'd see them in another movie together?
I had the same initial response... only i didn't read anything about the movie, book, or ending.
I usually don't pick the movies when we go out but I was so into the preview that I talked him into seeing it.
Clearly- the worst date movie ever.
but a great movie- and yes, totally my worst fear!
