Last Ditch Efforts to Complete 2008 Resolutions

photo

So despite our best efforts, it happened again. 362 have passed us by and the number on the scale remains the same, the passport remains unstamped and those resumes? They're buried under a copy of Twilight and some overdue DVDs. Awesome. Impressive lot aren't we?

But wait! There are still 72 hours ripe for the picking! Four whole days in which we can possibly eek out some progress on those resolutions. Or at least get some traction on actually making them happen in 2009.

Resolution: Work out
Last Ditch Effort: Get a free weekly pass at the local gym and use it every blessed day. Check out these sweet, free workout videos on youtube. Shovel the sweet bejesus out of your sidewalk, snowshoe, ski, check out your city's branch of Dance Dance Party Party

Resolution: Spend more time with family and friends
Last Ditch Effort: Take off New Year's Eve and spend it lunching with your sister or mum, skyping with far-flung friends and partying it up with your nearest and dearest. After a few glasses of champagne, tearfully clutch your girls and tell them "I love you, dude. No really, you guys are the besssssst!"

Resolution:Lose weight
Last Ditch Effort: Do a post-holiday detox. If eating fruit gets the best of you, head to The Gap for some very flattering vanity sizing (size 6?! Yes please!) When all else fails, buy a pair of Spanx and call it a day.

Resolution: Learn a foreign language
Last Ditch Effort: Speak only Pig Latin to your friends for the entirety of New Year's Eve. Learn how to say "thank you" in a million different languages, memorize the many different ways to say "kiss me" and utilize this at your New Year's party.

Resolution: Get out of debt
Last Ditch Effort: Find out your credit score and act accordingly. Maybe put that credit card in a bowl of water, in the freezer? If things are particularly dire, pawn or eBay that 24 caret necklace you never liked, look into taking in a flatmate or dial down the Starbucks habit.

Resolution: Help others
Last Ditch Effort: Shovel your neighbor's walk way, donate all those canned goods that have been languishing in the back of your cupboard (You're never going to eat that creamed corn, friend) buy a hot sandwich/coffee/blanket for your neighborhood homeless guy.

What resolutions did you make last year? How did it go?

I made the resolution to start exercising regularly and I didn't follow it. However, as much as I'd like to, I can't do that fruit detox diet at the moment.

Guess I'll be rolling that resolution over to next years!

(I would tell you my other resolutions but I've forgotten them! Shows you how dedicated I am)

I have been actually considering that cash4gold.com plan. Perhaps that will bring in a few extra dollars.

I can't even remember what my goals were. Probably Work out more and get published. I chickened out on the latter. And...well...working out didn't go to smoothly this past semester (although, before this semester I worked out a bit more than usual).

I'm not exactly doing New Years Resolutions this year. Instead, I'm doing the 101 things to do in 1001 days. I guess some are like resolutions...

Hah! "If fruit gets the best of you" is my new favorite euphemism.

last year, pre-new year (november, in fact) i had resolved to just do better as far as my personal fitness was concerned. this concern was steadfast until about may. then it went to shit, but i still maintained a 30lb weight loss. this year? the other 30. we'll see...

Ha! This is awesome. There is nothing like a sense of urgency to help get things done.

I actually did okay on most of last year's resolutions. "Write a novel" and "Pay of debt" are getting rolled over. As usual. But I have a good feeling about 2009, so bring it on!

I don't even remember what my resolutions were. Does that mean I didn't achieve them?

LBR: Same. If it's not written down, it didn't happen, right? :)

I have a few resolutions, but I'm not posting them until New Year's day. I need something to blog about, don't I? ;)

To the vanity sizing: I don't want to be the annoying skinny girl in the room, but I really hate vanity sizing, because it means I can't wear anything. I went into Kohls (probably not a good example) looking for work pants, + wound up settling, because they have the biggest size four pants I've ever seen in my life! And when it comes right down to it, it's just a number which nobody will ever see- and people can see if you're overweight.

I resolved to change my life...so I went back to school. That's still in progress, but it feels like I can only do so much in a year, eh?

Also, I've already taken some concrete steps towards this year's weight loss resolution, that being hiring a trainer named Dammon and pre-paying. Holy god, my thighs kill me right now.

The captcha reads "ingrish". :)
