Outfits that will impress your Grandma

Last weekend, my extended family celebrated Thanksgiving.

Yes, that's right. A full 26 days ahead of time.

Because that's how we roll. We won't be tied down to your "calenders" and "historical accuaracy" Pilgrims, shmilgrims.

And this is what I wore in an effort to placate my grandmother and avoid those inevitable "You're not wearing that, are you?" comments. In reality, my gran is a total firecracker - 88, still living at home, quilting like a mad woman and holding the world record for Best Mashed Potatoes Ever. But the woman does not have a lot of love for leg warmers, nose rings or, um, exposed thigh.

Do you dial down the fashion experiments around your more conservative family members?

um... nope! not at all, haha. i have a full sleeve, pink hair and facial piercings, i don't think the clothes i wear could shock them any more than the rest of my appearance does, lol...

YAY for conservative Grandmas-dressing! Lol. My mum still tries to make me cover my tattoos when my dad is around. It gets pretty hot when I am visiting them in summer and have to wear long sleeves *eye roll*
I love your blog, I am totally faux-mo-ing it up this weekend!
P.S. Sequins to work = Awesome.

I went to visit my Grandma one day and I had a hood on...
Grandma: Why do you have a hood on ? is your hair not done ?
Me: I actually just got my hair done yesterday
Grandma: Can I see it ?
Me: *hesitates* pulls hood off *reveals braided MoHawk*
Grandma:*frowns* Put your hood back on

At that time my feelings were slightly hurt, but I continue to try to be myself no matter who I am around.

Zavi! Great minds must think a like - I do a really similar hair style without the braiding. It's my go-to going out hair do. So cute!

1. I remember when I was younger + first wearing makeup, my mom wouldn't let me put mascara on my bottom lashes any time we were going to my grandparents house. Weird?

2. I got my nose pierced a few years ago... but I guess it looks "natural" cause nobody seems to really notice!

3. I have tattoos and if my grandma saw... I think she'd flip! They aren't hard to hide, but I do have to be conscious of what I wear!

4. I'm kind of a fashionista... I usually have to "dress down" for my fam. or I get crap for looking "so dressy!"

+ yaay for oversharing on my part!

:D

No such thing as over sharing in these parts, Annie!

Em, It's the little garden-y alley between my apartment building and the next one. It is also, apparently, the storage place for a red scooter, a gold scooter and a rocking horse! :)
